Obituary
LOWELL - Robert P. Bedford, 73, a lifelong resident of the Christian Hill Section of Lowell, died Tuesday morning, January 2, 2007 at his home with his family by his side.
He was the husband of Joan M. (Costello) Bedford, with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage on October 25, 2006.
He was born in Lowell on October 23, 1933, son of the late Edward M. and Caroline M. (Daigle) Bedford.
He grew up in the Centralville section of Lowell and was educated in Lowell schools.
Mr. Bedford served with the USAF, stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
After the USAF he began his career with Raytheon Corp. as a Sheet Metal Fabricator. He went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Newbury Junior College. He retired in 1993 after 36 Years with Raytheon as a Senior Design Draftsman Engineer.
Bob was a member of the St. Michael's Parish Choir for many years and performed in their musical productions.
He sang in the Barbershop Quartet, "The Northerners" for 25 years and enjoyed it very much.
He was a long time member of the East End Club, Lowell, MA
Mr. Bedford was a parishioner of St. Michael Parish in Lowell.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughter's in law, Chief Master Sergeant Steven C. and Master Sergeant Sharon L. (Monroe) Bedford of Schertz, Texas and James R. and Kathleen M. (McCarthy) Bedford of Lowell; loving grandchildren, Joshlyn M. Bedford and Lauryn D. Bedford of Lowell, Jeremy K. Bedford and Matthew S. Bedford both of Schertz, Texas, Aaron M. Bedford and Christopher J. Bedford of North Street, MI, and Ryan P. McCarthy of Lowell; A sister in law, Lorraine (Costello) Primeau and her children and grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Richard Bellemare and his children; His extended family, Clare and William Hamilton and their children and grandchildren and The Patrick Callery Family where he was affectionately known as "Pepe." He was the father of the late David Edward Bedford, brother of the late Jeannine (Bedford) Bellemare and brother in law of the late Victor A. Primeau.
