Robert J. Bailey, 86, a resident of Lowell, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Lowell on December 3, 1929, he was a son of the late John D. and Beatrice B. (Messier) Bailey.
Mr. Bailey enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II and was Honorably Discharged with the Rank of Seaman Second Class.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a roofer with the Roofers and Water Proofers Union, Local 33.
Robert's family would like to thank New England Hospice for the compassionate care given to him, especially his granddaughter Jennifer who is employed as a nurse with New England Hospice and was his caregiver.
He leaves five children, Shane R. Bailey and his companion Shirley Thellen of Lowell, Linda DeRosier and her husband Dana of Billerica, Tracy A. Bailey and her companion Alberto Buckeridge of Lake Mary, FL, Robert J. Bailey and his husband David Genovese of Naples, FL and Richard B. Bailey and his wife Kym Craven of NH; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Adam Daggett, Marc Silva, Matthew and Heather Bailey, Wade DeRosier, Craig and Sarah Bailey, Erin Anderson and Garrett Bailey; 11 great grandchildren, Dyllon, Alexis, Alyssa, Jackson, Hadley, Hayden, Knox, Cayden, Addison, Alex and Cordell; a sister, Jean Newell of Lowell; several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late John D. Bailey and brother of the late Eileen Johnson.
