LOWELL - Robert L. "Link" Allard, age 72, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Margaret P. "Rita" (Magee) Allard, who died in 2002.
He was born in Lowell on June 8, 1944, and was the son of the late Louis and Isabel (Vandette) Allard. He received his education in Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, where he was co-captain of the schools basketball team.
Robert served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, Link was employed for 50 years by the former A.H. Notini & Sons Inc. in Lowell.
He was an avid collector of Lilliput Lane Cottages and he enjoyed golfing and traveling to Ireland, which he tried to do at least once a year.
Link is survived by a son, Robert M. Allard and his wife Laurie of Lowell; two daughters, Michaela "Michelle" Morrow and Sarah Allard, both of Lowell; and two grandchildren Robert Allard and Margaret Morrow, both of Lowell. He was also the father of the late James Allard and the father-in-law of the late Wayne Morrow.
