Lowell - Rita M. (Furtado) Soucy, 78, wife of Andre B. Soucy, with whom she was married for 58 years, a Lowell resident, died unexpectedly August 1, 2005 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
She was born in Lowell on July 22, 1927 the daughter of the late Joseph and Hextorine (Morrissette) Furtado.
Mrs. Soucy was employed as a bookkeeper for Mobil Chemical Co. and later retired from Sullivan Brothers Printers.
She has been a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church for the past 56 years. Her memberships include the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild, the United Commercial Travelers of America, both Lowell Council # 365 and the Women's Auxillary Grand Counselors Association of New England, of which she was a past Secretary.
Surviving her besides her husband are two sons and daughters in law, Brian and Carol Soucy of Pelham, NH, Joseph and Maureen Soucy of Lowell; five daughters and four sons in law, Carol and Robert Nangle of Lowell, Joan and Michael Armstrong of Lowell, Patricia and Thomas Hebert of Lowell, Judith Hartman of Westerville, OH, Cheryl and Leo Sheridan of Lowell; fifteen grandchildren, Michael Nangle, Laurie King, Kelly Nangle, Christopher and Jennifer Armstrong, Melissa and Matthew Hebert, Leslie and Brittany Hartman, Kaitlin and Matthew Soucy, Kristen and Leo Sheridan, Ashley and Jonathan Soucy; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the grandmother of the late Little Brian Soucy.
