LOWELL - The family of Rita T. (Betty) LeMay is sorry to say that Memere "R" lost her battle with lung disease at 1:35 Sunday morning, June 7, surrounded by her loving children. She fought valiantly until the end with a wink of an eye… Like an Acre Girl. Truly Amazing. Thank you all for your loving support, she acknowledged the love and returns it in kind. She was 75.
Born in Lowell on October 10, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Real A. and Florence (McGaunn) Betty.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the M/A -Com Corp. of Lowell for many years.
Rita was a communicant of St. Rita Church in Lowell.
Mrs. LeMay enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling and playing Buffalo Bingo. One of her favorite destinations was Old Orchard Beach, ME.
Most important to her was time spent with family, especially her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves her four children and their spouses, Daniel and Nancy Chartier, James and Margaret Chartier, all of Lowell, Joan Rudolph and Bruce Greenhalge of Manchester, NH and Lisa Rudolph and James Methot of Lowell; a sister and her husband, Joan and Roger Bergeron of Chelmsford; 10 grandchildren, Tom, Katie, Shawn, Jennifer, Nevin, Sara, Amanda, Andre, Emilia and James; 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late James Henry Chartier, Jr. and sister of the late Shirley Bouchard and Real F. Betty, Sr.
