Rita V. (Kane) Kelleher, 86, a lifelong resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles R. Kelleher.
Born in Lowell on October 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Elizabeth A. (Unsworth) Kane.
Mrs. Kelleher was a graduate of St. Michael Parochial School and Notre Dame Academy.
Rita was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church and was an active volunteer at the Parish School for many years.
She was a member of the East End Club's Ladies Auxiliary and was a social member of Long Meadow Country Club.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary for UMASS Lowell.
Rita was proud of her Irish Heritage and enjoyed celebrating on St. Patrick's Day with her many relatives and friends.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Jaynes of Hampton, NH, Robert F. Kelleher and his wife Jeanie of White Lake, MI, Maureen Kelleher of Lowell and Daniel P. Kelleher of Dracut; seven grandchildren, Charles R. Kelleher III and his wife Bethany of Huntersville, NC, Jaclyn Roy and her husband Matthew of Lowell, Daniel P. Kelleher II and his wife Pamela of Billerica, Ashley Elizabeth Kelleher of Lowell, Michael S. Kelleher of Dracut, Matthew Kelleher and John W. "Jack" Kelleher, both of Lowell; four great grandchildren, Abby and Logan Roy, Lincoln and Lawson Kelleher; also several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Dorothy Markee of Andover.
She was the mother of the late Charles R. "Doc" Kelleher II and sister of the late James F. Kane and his wife Kathleen M. (Kilbride) Kane.
