Rita B. Keating

Rita B. Keating, 78, a longtime Dracut resident, died peacefully on Monday July 26, 2010.
Born in Franklin, NH, Rita was the youngest of six children and the only daughter to Thomas and Bertha (Welters) Keating.
Rita attended elementary schools in Franklin, NH, and later went on to attended Mount St. Mary College in Hooksett, NH where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree. She furthered her education while attending Rivier College in Nashua, NH where she received a Master of Science Degree.
Until her retirement in 1992, Rita was a supervisor of blood bank and phlebotomy at the former St. John's Hospital in Lowell.
She was a devoted and active parishioner at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Rita was involved in many facets of the church including that of Eucharistic Minister.
Her professional achievements include the publication of a paper in the Vermont Journal of Medical Technology in 1956 as well as being elected to Who's Who of American Women in 1983.
She also held membership in the American Association of Blood Banks and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Survivors include a brother, Michael Keating of Franklin, NH; two close friends, Debbie Murray of Pelham, NH and Francy Gorman of Lowell; many nieces and nephews as well as an abundance of friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her very dear friend, Ruth C. Walters and also by her brothers, Thomas, Paul, Francis and Gerald.
