Obituary
LOWELL - Richard J. Thellen, 73, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, died Monday, March 6, 2006 at his home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Gekas) Thellen.
Born in Lowell on December 8, 1932, he was a son of the late Edmour J. and Alice (Aupry) Thellen.
Mr. Thellen was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951 until 1955.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 25 years by MIT Lincoln Laboratory of Lexington as an electrician.
He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell.
Mr. Thellen enjoyed bowling, boating and fishing with his family. He was a member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven R. and Susan (Krawzun) Thellen of Tyngsboro and Charles E. and Brenda (LaGasse) Thellen of Lowell; a daughter, Claudette K. (Thellen) Flynn of Dracut; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert J. and Kay Thellen of Tampa, FL and Norman E. and Grace Thellen of Iowa, LA; three sisters and a brother-in-law, , D. Lorraine Soucy of Lowell, Ruth Y. Bastien of Dracut and Claudette A. and Roland E. Rondeau of Tyngsboro; a sister-in-law, Julia Thellen of Lowell; three grandchildren, Kyra Flynn, Michaela Thellen and Samantha Higgins; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Joan (Gekas) Medernach and William Medernach of Clearwater, FL and Pauline (Gekas) Finn of Oldsmar, FL;also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ronald G. Thellen Sr., and brother-in-law of the late Marina "Vi" Thellen, Roland Soucy, Gerard "Jiggs" Bastien and Bernard Finn. He was the son-in-law of Nikki Gekas of Clearwater, Fl and the late Charles Gekas.
