Richard M. (Dicky) Scanlan

April 3, 1937 — January 19, 2022

Richard M. (Dicky) Scanlan, 84, died on January 19, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Mary T. (Malloy) and Thomas A. Scanlan.

Deeply devoted to his faith, he attended weekly mass with his good friend Jimmy Jozokos.

Richard was known to be a jokester, often laughing too hard before he could deliver the punch line. He liked his television programs, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He loved going to the beach, playing pool and enjoyed sitting with friends having a cold beer.

Richard is survived and will be deeply missed by his three nephews, Brian Kerrigan of Lowell, Glenn Olsen of Lowell and Warren Kerrigan Jr. of Shirley, MA; his niece, Lynn Slattery of Pelham, NH; as well as many great nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many friends, especially those residing in the Francis Gatehouse Apartments in Lowell.

He was predeceased by his nephew Jay and his six siblings, Jackie, Tommy, Dorothy, Theresa, Billy and Joe.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Church, Dracut. Interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, PO Box 609, Dracut, MA 01826.
