Richard C. Murray

Chelmsford - Richard C. Murray, widower of Catherine M. (Allen) Murray with whom he was married to for 51 years at the time of her death in 2004, a resident of Chelmsford, but formerly of Lowell, died Saturday June 20, 2009 at a local nursing facility. He was 81.
Born in Lowell on October 12, 1927 he was a son of the late Arthur A. and Mary L. (Roark) Murray.
Richard was a graduate of Lowell High School, and an Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church, and former member of the Knights of Columbus. Richard was an avid fan of Lowell High School sports and Boston College Football.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a data management specialist at Hanscom Air Force Base for 41 years.
Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Roberta L. and Peter McCormack of Westford; a son and daughter in law, David A. and Lisa (Leyden) Murray of North Kingstown, RI; three grandchildren, Shayla Murray, Sara Murray, and David A. Murray, Jr. all of North Kingstown, RI; three sisters in law, Joan Allen, Barbara Allen both of Lowell, Dorothy Mawn of Woburn; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Philip A. Murray, and brother of the late Louise Casserly, and Arthur A. Murray, Jr.
