Rev. Myles Cyr, O.M.I., 93, died on December 24, 2020 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence, Tewksbury, MA. He was born in Portage Lake, Maine and was a son of the late François Joseph and Gertrude (Chasse) Cyr. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Roger Cyr, O.M.I. and a sister, Gloria Cyr. Fr. Myles is survived by his Oblate family and many former parishioners in Northern Maine.

Fr. Cyr attended high school in Old Town, Maine and completed his secondary education at the Oblate seminaries in Bucksport and Bar Harbor, Maine. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Missionary Oblate seminary in Natick, Massachusetts.

On August 1, 1948 Fr. Cyr entered the novitiate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Colebrook, NH where he professed his first vows on August 2, 1949. He professed his perpetual vows on September 8, 1952 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 17, 1954 in Saint-Jean Baptiste Church, Lowell, Massachusetts by Bishop Louis Collignon, O.M.I.

From 1955 to 1981 Fr. Myles served in various ministries: parish ministry in St. Peter's Parish, Plattsburgh, New York, Notre Dame de Lourdes and Saint-Jean Baptiste Parishes, Lowell, Massachusetts. In Lowell, he was also involved in the Christian Family Apostolate, was chaplain at Franco American School and St. Joseph Hospital. Fr. Cyr was on the staff of St. Joseph the Worker Shrine in Lowell, and at Ephetha Retreat House in Manville, Rhode Island.

From 1981 to 1995, Fr. Cyr and Fr. Roger, teamed up as roving missionaries, offering support to parishes and pastors in need. Fr. Myles was in residence at the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace, Colebrook, NH.

From 1994 to 1999, Fr. Myles was administrator at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brownville Junction, Maine. In 1999, he was assigned to St. Mary of Lourdes Parish, Lincoln, Maine, with his brother, Fr. Roger.

In 2015, Fr. Myles retired to the Oblate Residence, Tewksbury and remained there until his death.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services will be private. Interment will take place at the Oblate Cemetery in Tewksbury, where he will be buried next to his brother, Father Roger.
