Rev. Leo G. Cormier

Rev. Leo G. Cormier, a priest for over 63 years and resident of Dracut passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. He was 89.

Born in Lowell on December 30, 1930, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Emilie (Allard) Cormier.
Fr. Cormier graduated from Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Grammar School in 1944 and St. Joseph High School in 1948. He attended Seminaire de Hyacinthe, in P.Q. Canada and St. John's Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. Father Cormier was ordained by Archbishop Richard J. Cushing at the Holy Cross Cathedral on February 2, 1957. He served the Archdiocese of Boston in Parish work. Following his retirement he continued to serve local parishes in whatever capacity he was needed.
Father Cormier is survived by his sisters, Ruth Shaw, Lucille Cayer; his brother Edward L. Cormier, Jr.; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces, and great grand nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles, Robert, Alfred, George, and Francis Cormier, Irene Ste. Marie, Jean Ste. Marie, Ann Walters, and Alice Page.

Fr. Cormier will lie in state at St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Rd. Dracut on Monday from 4 until 6 PM. His Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held privately and may be attended remotely on Tuesday at 11:00 with the following link: https://youtu.be/RI0a2i0ar3s Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Clergy Retirement Disability Trust, 66 Brooks Drive, Braintree, MA 02184-3839.
