Rev. Donald G. Lozier, O.M.I.

Missionary Oblate Priest For 66 Years

Father Donald G. Lozier, OMI, age 91, passed away on July 22, 2026, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence, Tewksbury, MA. He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, son of the late Azade J. and Lydia (Richard) Lozier.

Fr. Don entered the Oblate Novitiate in Colebrook, NH in 1954, where he made his first profession August 2, 1955. He was ordained a priest with the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on September 15, 1960, at the St. Jean-Baptiste Church by the late Bishop Jean Louis Joseph Collignon, OMI in Lowell, MA.

Fr. Don began his ministry at the Ephpheta Retreat House in Manville, RI, serving both as a member of the Retreat Team and the Provincial Mission Band (1962-1963). He continued to serve as a member of the Retreat Team at the St. Paul Center in Augusta, ME for the next four years (1963-1968), and then the Oblate Retreat House in Hudson, NH (1968-1971). Fr. Don returned to the Ephpheta Retreat House as the Director of Retreat Programs (1971-1977). During this time, he received his Doctorate in Education at Boston University. Fr. Don then began a fifteen year ministry as a team member of the Marriage Encounter Movement. From 1992 he was a Parochial Vicar at Ste. Jeanne d’Arc Parish in Lowell, MA before becoming in 2004, the Pastor at Holy Family Parish (formerly Ste. Marie and Sacred Heart Parishes) in Lowell, MA (2004-2015). For the next four years (2015-2019), Fr. Don continued to function as Parochial Vicar at Holy Family while residing at the André Garin Residence/Mission Center in Lowell, MA, until he retired at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence in 2019.

Fr. Don is survived by his brother, Norman Lozier of Leominster, MA, his nephews, Alan Lozier of Cape Neddick, ME, Dennis (Susan) Lozier of Lunenburg, MA, Douglas (Dana) Lozier of Frenchtown, MO, and his niece, Susan Lozier of Ashburnham, MA. Fr. Don also leaves behind many dear friends, too numerous to mention. He will be missed by his many Oblate brothers and the staff at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence.

Friends and family are invited to Fr. Don’s Visitation at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 486 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Evening Prayer will be at 7:30pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 30th in the Chapel. Fr. Don will be buried at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chelmsford, MA.
