LOWELL- Rene J. McKinnon, 86, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Lowell General Hospital -Saints Campus, following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Pauline D. (Surprenant) McKinnon with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on September 8, 2013.
Born in Lowell on August 4, 1927, he was a son of the late Arthur and Edouardina (Milot) McKinnon.
Rene served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked in maintenance for many years for the company formerly known as Amray Inc.
Rene was a true family man. He was happiest when surrounded by his wife and children and was very proud of being "Pepere" to his many grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered for being full of laughter. Rene was a faithful Catholic and would pray for his entire family by name every night, from his oldest son down to his youngest great-grandchild. He was an avid reader and he always had a lot to talk about and loved to hold a good conversation.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Donald McKinnon and his wife, Donna of Seabrook, NH; four daughters and their spouses, Jeannine McKinnon and Richard Tellier of Lowell, Lorraine Stimpson and Joe Landry of Dracut, Pauline McKinnon and John Inglis of Hudson, NH, Terry Williams and her husband, Dave of Dracut; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He was the brother of the late Emile, Ernest, Andrew, Raymond, Alfred and Guy McKinnon, Cecile Corbin and Simmone Frechette.
