Rene L. Martineau

Rene L. Martineau, 93, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Friday, July 3, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Georgette A. (Paquette) Martineau, until her passing in 2018.

Born in Lowell on October 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Henry and Matilda (Roberge) Martineau. Rene served as a Corporal in the United States Army, stationed in the tank platoon in Germany.

Rene was employed by the City of Lowell for 30 years as a general foreman in the street department and prior to his time there for D.E. DeCaroll. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards at the Lowell Senior Center, and going to the casino.

He loved to take walks with his daughter and his dog Dutchess. With his son, he loved to shoot pool down in the cellar. He was a former communicant of St. Rita’s Church.

Rene is survived by his son, Rene G. Martineau of Watertown, CT; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle M. and Jeffrey Noel of Pelham, NH; two grandchildren, Emily Noel and Gregory Noel both of Pelham, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father-in-law of the late Debra Martineau and brother of the late Gerard, Phillip, Andrew, Maurice, Oscar, Leo and Claire Martineau.

It being his wish, there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rene’s Funeral Service at the ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY CHAPEL, 96 Riverneck Road, Chelmsford on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11:30 AM.
