DRACUT - Raymond J. "Moe" Plante, age 75, a longtime resident of Dracut passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Constance J. "Connie" (Clermont) Plante, who passed away in 2017.
He was born in Lowell on December 31, 1946, and was a son of the late Adelard and Charlotte (Cyr) Plante. He attended the former St. Louis Grammar School and was a graduate of Lowell Trade School, class of 1966. Following high school he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, Moe was employed for many years as a stock room manager by MACOM in Lowell. Earlier in his career he was employed for many years as a logistics manager by Honeywell in Lowell. He was a very hard worker and for over twenty five years had worked 2 jobs, the other being as a part-time manager at the former Hovey Square Liquor Store in Dracut.
He was a lifelong fan of baseball, whether it was watching the Boston Red Sox, playing in many leagues throughout his life, coaching or umpiring. He also enjoyed football, especially the New York Giants, watching the Kentucky Derby, eating sweets, especially cannolis, and playing bingo and keno.
Moe will be remembered for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and kindness, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
He is survived by his son, Steven Plante of Dracut; his step-daughter, Sandra Gaudette-Holmes and her husband Denis of Bellingham, WA; two step-sons, Mark Gaudette and his wife Darlene of Salem, NH and Ricky Gaudette and his partner Diane Geoffroy of Dracut; seven grandchildren, Melissa Kasilowski and her husband Eric, Joshua Keifer and his wife Jamie, Kara Bowles and her husband Jason, Zachary Keifer, Liam Smith, Olivia Plante and Matthew Plante; five great grandchildren, Ashley, Olivia, Brooklyn, Baylee and Brody; his brother, Albert Plante and his wife Diane of Derry, NH; his sister, Collette Marion of Dracut; his lifelong friend David Reilly and his wife Linda of Lowell; his dear friend Mary Russell of Lowell, and several nieces and nephews.
It being his wish, there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Moe's Funeral Service on Tuesday at 12:00 pm at the St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, 96 Riverneck Rd., Chelmsford. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
