Raymond R. Lavigne, Sr., 82, a longtime Lowell resident, died Sunday February 3, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice D. (Shaughnessy) Lavigne with whom he was married for 61 years.
Born in Lowell on May 3, 1930, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mary Louise (Paquin) Lavigne.
Ray worked as a machine operator for the 3M Corporation of Chelmsford until his retirement in 1993. Ray was an excellent dancer. He and his wife enjoyed participating in dances of all types including line, square and ballroom dancing. Ray and his family spent countless summers camping, making many lasting memories. Since 1980, Ray has been an active member of the Lowell First Church of the Nazarene. Through his ministry, Ray enjoyed gospel singing. His family will lovingly remember his humor and jokes.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Raymond R. Lavigne Jr. and his wife, Leslie of Hudson, NH, Arthur H. Lavigne and his wife, Amy of Hagerstown, MD; two daughters, Jacqueline F. Vandette and her husband, Paul of State College, PA, Michelle R. "Mikki" Wedel and her husband, Paul of Nashua, NH; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; many dear friends and several nieces and nephews.
