Raymond F. Larkham

Raymond F. Larkham, the beloved husband of Virginia (Porter) Larkham , died Monday December 23, 2013 at his Centralville residence with his family by his side. He was 95.
He was born in Worcester on January 30, 1918, a son of the late Francis and Margaret (Conway) Larkham.
Ray graduated from St. John High School in Shrewsbury and then received advance training in electronics from Clark University, Northeastern University and Texas A & M.
He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Navy and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer
Ray then began his career as a firefighter with the city of Worcester. He then advanced as the Superintendant of Fire Alarm there. He later moved on to the Lowell Fire Department and then the Everett Fire Department where he also served as the Superintendant of Fire Alarm. Following Ray's retirement from the fire department he went to work at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lowell where he was the House Electrician
A long time communicant and volunteer at St. Michael Parish, Ray was a 2009 recipient of the Bishop Cheverus Award, presented by Cardinal Sean O'Malley for dedicated and outstanding service to the Catholic Church.
He was also a member of the Lowell Retired Firefighters Association
The Larkham Family would like to thank the Lowell VNA-Hospice for all of their compassionate care during Ray's time of illness.
Surviving Ray besides his wife of 75 years are his six children and their spouses, Virginia and William Brown of Plattsburg, NY, Diane and Robert Doyle of Westford, Peter and Suzannne Larkham of NH, Francesca and Richard Graves of Winchendon, Christine and Thomas Mirabito of NH, Paul and Deborah Larkham of Westford; two brothers, Herbert Larkham of North Grafton, John Larkham of East Brookfield; a sister Marguerite Hoey of Auburn; many grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Philip Larkham, and brother of the late James Larkham, Francis Larkham, and Estelle Smalanskas.
