Lowell - Raymond P. Gendreau, 80, a Centralville resident, husband of Estelle R. (Forest) Gendreau, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage in October, died Friday, November 25, 2005, from an extended illness.
He was born in Lowell on June 22, 1925, a son of the late Victor L. and Lucille (Gadbois) Gendreau.
During WWII he served with the US Merchant Marines. He was awarded the Commemorative Medal of Accommodation by the Ambassador of Russia "for his valor and valuable contribution to the efforts of Russia and the Allies in the struggle of unprecedented magnitude against Nazi Germany."
Mr. Gendreau was a communicant of St. Louis de France Church. He was employed by the Courier Citizen as a lithographer for 43 years. He was an avid bowler and Red Sox fan.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters and three sons in law, Diane and Andy Wolfgang of Andover, Terri and Lee Kirkwood of CO, Jeanne and Paul Marion of Hudson, NH, Pauline St. Onge of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Michelle Burley,
Paula Jean, Carl and Corey R. Lewandowski, Joanne Perron, Diane McDonough, Eric Marion, Claudine Owens, and Cheryl St. Onge; fifteen great grandchildren, Courtney, Michael, Jeremy, Susanna, Christopher, Cristin, Thomas, Ethan, Amanda, Ashley, Rayanne, Olivia, Jacob, Quinn, and Adysen. He was also the brother of the late Lillian Rath.
