Raymond F. Fratus

Raymond F. “Ray Ray” Fratus, age 74, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 3, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Susan A. (Manahan) Fratus.

He was born in Lowell on June 21, 1950 and was the son of the late John W. Fratus and the late Gloria Andrews Fratus Johnson.

Ray grew up in Lowell but had lived in Chelmsford for 46 years. He spent 20 years working at McLean Hospital in Belmont and 23 years working for the Westford Highway Department.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Ray enjoyed working in his yard, watching old westerns, plowing snow, napping in his recliner, riding his trike to the beach and bike night. The westerns were the same ones he had watched with his dad when he was a boy. He also loved being the “official biscuit giver” to all the dogs in the neighborhood.

In addition to his wife, Susan, Ray is survived by his sons Ray A. Fratus and his wife, Carmela of Shirley and Todd W. Fratus and Deb Wilfert of Pepperell; his daughter-in-law, Lisa Fratus of E. Syracuse, NY; his six grandchildren, Brianna Rego, Todd Fratus Jr., Ryan Fratus, Alex Fratus, Seth Fratus and Gage Fratus.

He was the brother of the late John A. Fratus.

Per Ray’s wishes, all services were held privately.
