Lowell - Raymond A. Belanger, 78, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Saturday November 18, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Doris M. (Champagne) Belanger, with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage this past May.
Mr. Belanger was born in Cambridge on October 10, 1928, a son of the late Raymond J. and Yvonne (Lessard) Belanger, but had been a resident of Lowell for many years.
He was veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Air Force, and was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church, recently Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut.
Mr. Belanger was a retired draftsman at the former Digital Equipment Corporation. He enjoyed spending winters in South Carolina where he was a member of the Senior Club of Conway, SC. An avid musician he enjoyed playing the guitar, cooking and camping, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving him besides his wife are three sons and a daughter in law, Richard P. Belanger of Lowell, Donald R. and Donna Belanger of Merrimack, NH, Leo M. Belanger of Lowell; two daughters and sons in law, Jeanne M. and Richard David of Farmington Hills, MI, Denise D. and Kenneth Regan of Pelham, NH; two sisters and a brother in law, Lillian Kucera of Rosenburg, TX, Pauline and Richard Waldron of Squantum; thirteen grandchildren, Jonathan Belanger, Timothy Belanger, Victoria Belanger, Eva-Marie Proszkow and her husband Nicholas, Peter David, Leanne Beauregard and her husband Frank, Cheryl Regan, Karen Regan, Michael Belanger, Thomas Belanger, Jennifer Belanger, Joseph Belanger, Rebecca Cerra; a great grandson, Joseph P. Rutherford; two sisters in law, Therese Lemieux of New Bedford, Angele Champagne of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Germaine Martin.
