Lowell - Raymond J. Beland, 68, husband of Diana I. (Dufour) Beland, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died Sunday October 22, 2006 at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was born in Lowell on July 8, 1938, a son of the late Omer Beland and Alice (Paradis) Beland of Lowell who survives him.
Mr. Beland had served in the Army National Guard and is a retired Lowell firefighter having driven engine 3 for thirty four years.
He was a communicant of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Church, and held membership in the Lowell Firefighters Club. An avid sports fan, Mr. Beland enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots, and NASCAR. He also enjoyed driving and every summer would visit Saratoga, NY, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving him besides his wife and mother are a son and daughter in law, Anthony R. and Crystal J. Beland of Merrimack, NH; two daughters and sons in law, Renee M. and Paul J. Smith of Billerica, Andrea L. and Raymond M. Royer of Townsend; two brothers and sisters in law, Normand and Patricia Beland of Stoneham, Omer and Evon Beland of Sandwich; a sister and brother in law, Ann Marie and Richard Trudel of Hudson, NH; six grandchildren, Bailey Royer, Kristin Smith, Abbey Royer, Brendan Smith, Jocelyn Smith, Lily Beland; and several nieces and nephews.
