Lowell - Peter J. Young, 80, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died Tuesday evening, September 4, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rita S. (Cimon) Young with whom he was married for 60 years.
Born in Lowell on January 24, 1927, he was a son of the late Peter J. and Mary (Gendron) Young. He was a graduate of St. Louis Parochial School.
Mr. Young served with the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Tyngsboro American Legion and the VFW of Pelham, NH.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Baker Commodities of Tewksbury.
He was a communicant of St. Rita Church and volunteered at the Chelmsford Senior Center.
Mr. Young was an avid Red Sox fan and billiard player.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Russell Young of Nashua, NH, and his former daughter-in-law, Maryann Young of Nashua, NH, and Mark Young and his wife Paulette Young of Lowell; a daughter Donna (Young) Arledge and her husband Robert Arledge of Lowell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Blanche Young of TX and Robert and Geraldine Young of Lowell; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jane Shemchuck of Lowell and Lorraine and Robert Andruszkiewicz of Lowell; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cote and her husband Bryan Cote of Milford, NH, April Young-Jodoin and her husband Robert Jodoin of Nashua, NH, Anthony "TJ" Kurpis and his fianc�e Carol Daunais of Boston and Taylor Young of Lowell; three great grandchildren, Connor Cote, Chloe Jodoin and Parker Cote. He was a brother of the late Leo Young, Ruth Guilmette, Dorothy Rachelawicz, Pearl Beaumont and Mae Andruszkiewicz.
