LOWELL - Peter D. Jones, Sr., age 70, a longtime resident of Lowell died Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia M. Kirby, whom he was with for 46 years. After being diagnosed Jan.1st with a rare aggressive cancer Peter fought hard and courageously before losing his battle .
He was born in Lowell on February 15, 1951, and was a son of the late Robert and Eileen ( Higson) Jones. He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Peter proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 19 years by Precise Industries in Lowell. Earlier in his career he was employed for 10 years by B & M Railroad.
Peter enjoyed vacationing with his family, especially camping, bowling and playing cards, darts, and pool.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Peter D. Jones, Jr. and his wife Kayliegh of Nashua, NH; his daughter, Catie Jones-Alcantaro and her husband Jose Alcantaro of Lowell; seven grandchildren, Peter D. Jones, III and his wife Marzely, Emily Jones, , and Mackayla Jones, all of Nashua, NH, Alisia Alcantaro, Georgie Alcantaro, and Javian Alcantaro, all of Lowell, and Caleb Jones of Nashua, NH; two great grandchildren on the way; three sisters, Alice Walsh of Lowell, Mary Eileen Kapala and her companion Arthur Arsenault of Lowell, and Sheila Hamel and her husband Steve of Nashua NH; two sisters-in-law, Karen Kirby and her fiance' Chuck Dehney of Pelham, NH, Katie Bailey of Lowell; three brothers-in-law, Tommy Kirby and his wife Isabel of Dracut, Chris Kirby and his wife Jessica of Lowell, and Timmy Kirby and his wife Romy of Switzerland. Peter also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews
He was also the brother of the late Robert Jones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peter's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00pm followed by his Funeral Service at 7:00pm at the funeral home.
