HUDSON, NH - State Representative Peter R. Goyette, Jr., 66, a long time resident of Hudson, NH, died unexpectedly on Friday evening, September 5, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of Theresa B. (Coutu) Goyette, with whom he's been married for 42 years.
Born in Lowell on April 13, 1942, he was a son of the late Peter R. and Ellen (McNally) Goyette.
For the last 40 years, Mr. Goyette and his wife Theresa have owned and operated Pete's Gun and Tackle in Hudson, NH through which they supported the local schools.
A State Representative for the last 3 terms, Mr. Goyette was willing to help any anyone in need and was very proud to serve the State of New Hampshire as a Representative. Representative Goyette enjoyed voicing his opinion and concerns for the people of his district and was not afraid to go up against big government in Concord, NH to ensure that the people's concerns were heard. The Hudson, Litchfield and Pelham Districts have just suffered a big loss.
Mr. Goyette enjoyed hunting all over the United States and Canada and fishing on the Mirimiachi in New Brunswick, Canada for Atlantic Salmon. He was a life member of the NRA and the Pelham Fishing Game Club in Pelham, NH. He was a member of the Tyngsborough Rotary Club in Tyngsborough, MA where he sponsored the "Handicap Fishing Day" for several years.
He was a communicant of St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, NH.
He was a 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite for the last 6 years belonging to the Ancient York Lodge, AF & AM in Lowell, MA and the Pulpit Rock Lodge, AF & AM in Pelham, NH.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle L. (Goyette) Johnson and Donald A. Johnson of Litchfield; his son, Michael P. Goyette and his longtime girlfriend, Wendy Jacobs of Hudson, NH; four grandchildren, Spencer David (Goyette) Bumford of Malta, NY, Meagan, Dylan and Brianna Johnson of Litchfield, NH; his two sisters, Ellen Graves of Manchester, NH and Ruth Ann Dunfey of Lowell; his brother, Paul Goyette and his wife Rachel of Wells, ME; 10 nieces and nephews, 25 grandnieces and grandnephews. He was a brother-in-law of the late Clark Graves.
