Pauline N. (Laferriere) Hamel

Pauline N. (Laferriere) Hamel, a Dracut resident and beloved wife of Maurice (Bill) L. Hamel, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the Northwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health. She was 85.

Born on Christmas Day in 1932, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Descheneaux) Laferriere.

In order to be on the same schedule as her children Pauline worked in the cafeteria at the Dracut middle school while they were growing up. She later worked in the registrar's office at UMASS Lowell from where she retired.

Pauline enjoyed knitting, sewing and going out to eat with family and friends. Family was paramount to Pauline. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren at the family camp at Lake Ossipee, NH, where she looked forward to playing cards with her grandchildren and supplying them with a never empty candy dish.

Surviving her besides Bill, her husband of 64 years are her children and their spouses,
Paul and Phyllis Hamel of Dunstable, William and Mary Beth Hamel of Lunenburg, Michael and Suzanne Hamel of Londonderry, NH, Diane and John Malandrino of Dracut; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Alexander, Brittney, Sean, Keith, Haley, and Cassie Hamel, Jake and Marissa Malandrino; a brother Roger Laferriere of TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Pauline's Life Celebration at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street from 10 AM until 12 PM on Saturday. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in Pauline's name can be made to the Durkin Foundation, 4 Tower Farm Rd., Billerica, MA 01821.
