Paul R. Lord

Paul Lord, 79, of Plant City, FL, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 4th, 2016. A native of Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Lionel and Bertha Gagnon Lord. His survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Theresa Vezina Lord; their children Kimberley Curtis and her husband Gregory of Lowell, MA, and Keith Lord and his wife Traci of Windham, NH; six grandsons, Jason, Derek, Korey, Connor, and Brayden Lord and Tyler Borrelli; a sister, Denise Gormley and her husband Michael; and a stepsister, Cheryl Blackburn and her husband Charles. He was predeceased by two children, Kevin and Karen, and one grandson, Dylan Borrelli.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Paul was stationed at Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, NH, after which he launched a successful career as a car dealer – first as President of Lowell Toyota and later when he established his own business, Lord Toyota in Weymouth, MA. He was well-known for his creative approach to advertising and promotions, most notably as 'Superman' in his Home of the Super Deal campaigns. He was also an active member of the Dracut community, including a number of coaching assignments for various football leagues throughout the years.

Paul was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren. An avid entertainer, he was known as a compelling storyteller and often commanded the attention of whatever room he was in. He often recounted stories of his years of travel with his wife to many destinations around the world. He most cherished the time they spent in the Bahamas, where they resided part time for many years.

In his retirement, Paul's favorite pastimes included golf, billiards and Backgammon. He participated in many golf leagues in the Plant City, FL area, as well as friendly golf matches with his wife. He hosted his own Golf Classic for friends and family for ten years and he was a member of the Zephyrhills Moose Lodge 2276.
