Paul H.P. Lavallee

August 5, 1930 — July 26, 2018

LOWELL - Paul Henry Philippe Lavallee ("Uncle Paul"), age 87, a longtime resident of Lowell passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Lahey Hospital Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.

Paul was born in Lowell on August 5, 1930. He was the son of the late Philippe and Amanda (Deschenes) Lavallee. Paul received his education in the Lowell schools.

Paul served in the US Army Reserves from 1948 to 1949. In 1950 he proudly reentered the Army and served with the renowned 1/32nd Infantry Regiment in the Korean War. He was discharged from active duty in 1951 with the rank of Corporal. As a result of his service, he was awarded: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Distinguished Unit Citation, and the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. Although Paul rarely spoke of his military accomplishments, he was very proud.

Prior to his retirement, Paul was employed for many years as a Color Pressman at Courier-Citizen.

Paul was a proud member of the 32nd Infantry Regiment Association, the VFW and the Centralville Social Club in Lowell.

Paul was known for being mechanically inclined and was often found tinkering in his garage trying to repair his latest finds. He was also a very social person and always looked forward to meeting new people and spending time with family and friends. We could always count on hearing many of Paul's jokes or having a lively political discussion with him. Paul's happiest times were those spent at his camp in Maine, as well as, bonding with his neighbors Guy and Judy.

Paul is survived by two sisters, Fleurette Moustafa and Jeannine Lavallee, both of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. He was also the brother of the late Donald, Gerard, Rudolph "Rudy", Joseph, Edward, Roland, Florence, Pauline, and Therese Lavallee.

Although Uncle Paul was very ill, he still carried a wealth of knowledge and was a source of guidance for everyone. Paul could always be counted on for saying the right thing and showing his support out of love.
