Paul R. Caron, age 79, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Carol F. (Cashman) Caron, with whom he was happily married to for 58 years. While here on this earth, Carol would describe her “sweetheart” as a caring and giving man with a good sense of humor, who could always make people laugh.
Born in Lowell on March 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Estelle Y. (Beauchesne) and Raymond V. Caron. Upon graduation, Paul went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, last ranking as Command Sergeant Major, and the reserves, where he always felt there was no greater calling than service to country.
Whether serving in the Army or exploring on their own, Paul and Carol were never ones to sit still. They cherished memories of traveling to Hawaii, Florida and cruising to the Bahamas. Paul found joy in creating custom candles, blending scents that he enjoyed sharing with others.
He was also devoted to their four miniature Dachshunds, his “fur babies,” over the last 45 years.
Paul was a member of Knights of Columbus, sang in the choir at St. Louis, where he also became a Lector and later at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Church in Dracut.
In addition to his wife Carol, Paul is survived by his sister, Joanne Richard and her husband, Andre of Lowell; his sisters-in-law, Caren Cashman of Lowell and Diane Caron of Nashua, NH; his nephew, Adam Richard and his wife, Jill; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
He was the brother of the late Robert L. Caron and son-in-law of the late Victoria and John Cashman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Paul’s Life Celebration at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Friday, March 20, 2026. All may gather for a brief visitation to pay their respects at 11 AM followed by his funeral service at 12 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family would request a Mass to be offered in Paul’s memory.
