OBITUARY
LOWELL - Paul R. Blanchette Sr., 73, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington, MA. He was the husband of Judith A. (Cheetham) Blanchette with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on November 11, 2005.
He was born in Lowell on August 2, 1932, the son of the late Ernest C. and Lillian (Berard) Blanchette.
He was raised in the Kenwood section of Dracut and was a graduate of St. Michael Parochial School. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church.
Mr. Blanchette served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Blanchette worked in the Hydraulic Maintenance Department of Raytheon Corp., South Lowell for 37 years.
He was a member of the Lowell Underwater Explorers' Club and did rescue and recovery for the Civil Defense. He was also a member of the U.C.T.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul R. Blanchette Jr., Michael and Demetra "Debbie" (Panaras) Blanchette, all of Dracut; a granddaughter, Fayla Judith Blanchette of Dracut; two brothers, a sister, and three sisters-in-law, Ernest and Marie Blanchette of Dracut, Claire Foner of Minnesota, John "Jack" and Joanne Blanchette of Tyngsboro and Georgiana Blanchette of Meredith, NH; He also leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many good friends. He was the brother of the late L. Philip, Robert and David Blanchette.
