Patrick Joseph Hollywood

Rev. Patrick Joseph Hollywood, OMI, 84, died on March 5, 2018, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. He was a son of the late Matthew and Mary Jane (Quinn) Hollywood.
Fr. Hollywood was born and educated in New York City and attended college in Manhattan. He then furthered his education at Oblate College and Catholic University in Washington, DC, where he earned degrees in philosophy and theology. He further supplemented his education at Michigan University, Ann Arbor and Iona College, New Rochelle, New York.
He entered the novitiate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Ipswich, Massachusetts, on September 7, 1953, where he professed his first vows on September 8, 1954. His perpetual vows were professed on September 8, 1957, in Essex, New York. On May 31, 1960, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Francis McSorley, OMI, Jolo, Philippines.
Fr. Hollywood's first assignment was to Our Lady of Hope Center in Newburgh, New York, where he was a teacher until 1971. He was named associate pastor at St. William Parish in Tewksbury in 1971, then appointed pastor and community superior. He served there until 1979. He returned to Our Lady of Hope Center where he was superior of the community until 1983. His next assignment, 1983-1989, took him to Grand Rapids, Michigan where he was pastor and director at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. He was named pastor of St. Ann Parish, Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he spent two years.
His next assignment, in 1991, was superior of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Oblate Novitiate in Tewksbury. He was there until 1997. From July of 1997 to 2000, he was parochial vicar and second assistant at Immaculate Conception Parish, Lowell, Massachusetts. In conjunction with this assignment, he was named Provincial Treasurer in May of 1995 and held this position until June of 2003. He was pastor of Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish in Lowell from 2000 to 2003, then returned to Immaculate Conception Parish as Pastor until December of 2004.
He spent the next nine years on the staff of St. Joseph the Worker Shrine in downtown Lowell. Fr. Hollywood also spent many years, in addition to his regular ministry, coordinating annual mission appeals in various dioceses, including the Archdiocese of Boston, to raise funds for the Oblate missions.
Due to failing health, Fr. Hollywood joined the community at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence in Tewksbury in July of 2015 where he remained until his death.
In addition to his Missionary Oblate family, Fr. Hollywood is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, James and Elaine Hollywood, of Scarborough, Maine. He is also survived by a nephew, James Hollywood, and his wife, Erin, and a niece, Mary Beth DiMasio.
Services and calling hours will be in the Chapel at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence, 486 Chandler Street, Tewksbury. Calling hours will be on Monday, March 12, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the Oblate cemetery at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence.
