Patrick J. Dacey

July 14, 1947 — January 13, 2018

MILTON - Patrick J. Dacey, 70, a resident of Milton and former Lowell, Dracut and Pembroke resident died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home following a brief, courageous battle with ALS. He was the beloved life partner of Rose M. Doherty.

He was born in Lowell on July 14, 1947, and was the eldest son of the late Paul J. and Mary H. (McNamara) Dacey. He was a graduate of Lowell High School, and the Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology.

Patrick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era.

He spent most of his career employed as a civil engineer by Riley Stoker in Worcester and by Badger Engineering in Cambridge. In recent years and until his retirement, Patrick enjoyed his time behind the deli counter with his friends at the Stop and Shop Supermarket in Pembroke.

Patrick loved to play golf and was an avid fan of all the Boston sports teams, but especially the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed skiing, fishing, and tinkering with things around the house, especially when it gave him the chance to try out the latest gadgets and tools. His greatest joy however, came from spending time in the company of his loving family, especially his adoring grandchildren.

His family would like to thank the VA Hospitals in Boston, particularly Dr. Thakore and her amazing team for the unbelievable care and compassion that they gave to him – one of their favorite patients, as well as to his family, during his illness.

In addition to Rose, Patrick is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda K. Notaro and her husband Timothy of Clinton and Katie L. Grayson and her husband Daniel of Londonderry, NH; his cousin who was more like a little brother to him, Scott Murdock, and his wife Jacqueline of Pembroke; his six grandchildren, Trevor and Brandon Murdock, Julianna and Nicolas Notaro and Hayley and Kylie Grayson. He also leaves behind his former spouse and mother of his two daughters, Theresa Garon of Worcester; his sister-in-law, Vivienne Dacey of Melbourne, Australia; his nieces and nephew, Donna Tyros, Brian, Bonnie and Marissa Dacey and his grand nieces, Alexis Tyros and Isabella Dacey. He was predeceased by his brother Paul "Pinky" Dacey and his special aunts, Theresa Dube and Florence Murdock.
