Patricia A. (Gekas) Thellen

LOWELL - Patricia A. (Gekas) Thellen, age 84, a longtime resident of Lowell died Thursday, March 24, 2022 at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell surrounded by her beloved family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Thellen, who died in 2006.

She was born in Lowell on August 5, 1937, and was a daughter of the late Dorothy (Neves) Gekas and the late Charles Gekas and his wife Nicole "Nikki" Gekas. She received her education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Prior to her retirement, Patricia was employed for many years as an instructor by Wang Laboratory in Tewksbury and in Lowell.

She was a longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell where she spent her Sunday service and her favorite pastor Father Sannella.

Patricia was an avid bingo player and collector of Precious Moments and Beanie Babies and she enjoyed playing Yahtzee, watching game shows, shopping, cooking, traveling and spending time her neighborhood friends. Her greatest joy however, came from time spent in the company of her loving family, especially her adoring grandchildren and her faithful companion Frenchie.

She is survived by her daughter, Claudette K. Flynn of Lowell; her two sons, Steven R. Thellen and his wife Susan of Tyngsboro and Charles E. Thellen and his companion Brenda Sharland of Lowell; four grandchildren, Kyra Robin and her husband Michael of Windham, NH, Samantha Higgins of Nashua, NH, Michaela Thellen of Lowell and Jacob Thellen of Lowell; a sister, Pauline M. Finn of Trinity, FL; three sisters-in-law, Claudette Rondeau of Tyngsboro, Ruth Bastien of Dracut and Julia Thellen of Lowell; a cousin, Eugene Picard of N. Chelmsford; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, including Nancy Beane of Lowell, Louise and Don Page of Lowell, Denise and Robert Willett of Dracut, Marc and Lisa Cayer of Hudson, NH, and Peter and Bernadette Szurley of Tewksbury. She always looked fabulous thanks to her stylist Eddie Cruz for whom we are forever grateful.

She was also the mother-in-law of the late Brenda Thellen and the sister of the late Joan Medernach and her husband Bill Medernach, and her late brother-in-law Bernard Finn all of whom she loved very much.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Patricia's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury. A Memorial Service for Patricia will be held for her family and friends in Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
