LOWELL - Ourania "Irene" (Nicholas) Sullivan, 88, a Lowell resident, died Tuesday evening, April 25, 2006 at the Lowell General Hospital. She was the widow of Edward F. Sullivan who died in 1991.
Born in Lowell on March 2, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George and Sultana (Karanasios) Nicholas.
Mrs. Sullivan attended Lowell Public Schools.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Sullivan had been employed by Wang Laboratories of Lowell as an assembler. She had previously worked at the former St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell as a nurses aide.
She was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church and belonged to the Phyloptochos and Pan Macedonian Societies.
She is survived by two sons, Nicholas Mitsakos of FL and Edward F. Sullivan Jr. and his wife Katherine (Amorelli) Sullivan of Chelmsford; a daughter, Mary (Mitsakos) Lynch and her husband John J. Lynch of Lowell; a sister, Beatrice Courtois of Lowell; 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Sultana "Sally" A. Mitsakos, grandmother of the late John J. Lynch and Edward F. Sullivan III, and sister of the late Charles and Peter Nicholas and Louise Anagnost.
