DRACUT – Orlando P. “Andy” Schiripo, 94, a Dracut resident, died peacefully at D’Youville Senior Care on Friday morning, December 10, 2010 with his loving daughter by his side. He was the widower of Roberta I. (Gregoire) Schiripo who died April 21, 1989.
He was a communicant of St. Michael Parish in Lowell.
He was born in Dracut, on June 29, 1916, son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Sandelli) Schiripo. He attended grammar school in Dracut and the Lowell Trade School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany. Upon discharge he worked in the family construction business then started his own business, Phillip Construction Co., which he operated for 25 years. He also owned Phillips Realty Service, managing apartments in Lowell and Dracut.
He was an active member of the Dracut American Legion, Leo C. Roth Post 315.
Andy loved life. He enjoyed working hard and loved to socialize and have a good time. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler. Later, he enjoyed spending time at his beach cottage in Seabrook, NH, going out on his boat, the Rolaine, fishing and lobstering. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening and visiting with family and friends. He liked watching all types of sports.
Besides his daughter, Elaine Schiripo, who resided with him, he leaves behind two sisters, Rose Sarro and Dorothy Potvin, two brothers, Joseph Schiripo and John Schiripo, Jr., all of Dracut; a dear sister-in-law, Janet Schiripo of Dracut; also many nieces and nephews; three Godchildren, Geraldine Marcantonio of Belmont, Paula Nolin of Dracut and Nicholas Palermo, Jr. of RI; and a dear friend, Patricia Kostka of Dracut. He was a brother of the late Frank Schiripo, Mary Lenzi, Pasquale “Pat” Schiripo, Mabel Vito, Renaldo “Rennie” Schiripo, Ferdinand “Fred” Schiripo, Violet “Vi” Demarais, Anthony “Tony” Schiripo, Margaret Morin and Josephine “Josie” DiRocco.
