Olivia DiRubbo

November 21, 1922 — January 18, 2021

CHELMSFORD - Olivia DiRubbo, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went to her Eternal Home on January 18, 2021 at Palm Center in Chelmsford. She was 98 years old.
She was married to the love of her life, Nicholas, with whom she shared 25 years before his passing in 1968.
Born on November 21, 1922 to the late Henry and Maude Fleury, Olivia was the youngest of nine children.
She trained at the Lowell Vocational School in dressmaking. In 1984 she retired from The Ideal Dress Company where she was employed for over 30 years as a stitcher. During World War II she worked at The American Parachute Company in Lowell.
Olivia enjoyed making her own clothes, making puzzles, knitting, crocheting, reading as well as cooking and baking. It is said of many people, what they make with their hands they give with their heart. And this she followed through, sharing her handmade creations and baked goods with family, friends and neighbors. She had a humble, kind and caring spirit.
She also enjoyed trips with the 'seniors" but her most memorable trip was to Hawaii where she visited Pearl Harbor with her sisters Clara and Marion.
Olivia is survived by her daughter Ann and her husband Mark, her grandchildren, Marilyn Scala and her husband Gerry, and Michael Carignan his wife Aimee and three great grandchildren, Marissa, Nicholas and Catherine Carignan. Also many nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
She was predeceased by brothers Alfred, Arthur, Richard and Howard Fleury and her sisters, Clara Chagnon, Hazel Castonguay, Florence Clark and Marion Pereira. She was also predeceased by Cliff Eisner, Jr. (her grandson-in-law) who she loved dearly.
Olivia was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in No. Chelmsford for many years and also attended St. Joseph's Church in Lowell.
Olivia was lovingly cared for over the last 4 years, and particularly the last 10 months, by the entire B Wing staff at Palm Center and Compassus Hospice in Chelmsford. Although it has been difficult for family not to be able to visit her, the compassion from her nurses, especially Samantha, Maria and Glen will forever warm our hearts. Niki, an activities assistant captured beautiful pictures for us and made Mom's 98th birthday as special as could be.
