Normand A. Vaillancourt, 60, a resident of Lowell died unexpectedly Monday, July 3, 2017 at his home.
He was born in Lowell on February 1, 1957, and was a son of the late Ernest C. and Lorraine C. (Corcoran) Vaillancourt.
Normand worked as a trackman for B & M Railroad from 1976 until he became disabled in 2005. He also installed carpet for many years.
He was known by his family and friends as being a free spirit, good natured, and valued his friendships. Normand would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He had a big heart, especially when it came to his love for his son who was the world to him.
In his younger years, Normand enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, camping, going to the mountains, and trips to Jamaica.
Normand also enjoyed a cold Budweiser and was proud of his work on the railroad. He could make the best pork pies, second only to his mother of course.
He is survived by the most important person in his life, his son Jacob R. Vaillancourt of Lowell; two brothers, Daniel R. Vaillancourt and David E. Vaillancourt and his wife Nancy, all of Tyngsboro; his sister, Diane L. Fenn and her husband Robert of Dunstable; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends, especially Jackie, Speedy, Harry, and Chris, who were like brothers to him; and his former wife, Donna M. (Vigeant) (Vaillancourt) Moakley of Lowell.
He was also the brother of the late Marc J. Vaillancourt and Thomas A. Vaillancourt.
