Normand J. Ouellette

December 19, 1932 — October 11, 2024

Lowell

Normand J. Ouellette, son of deceased parents, Paul J. And Christine (Ducharme) Ouellette, passed away, October 11, 2024, after multiple health complications. He was the husband of the late Fleurette (Martin) Ouellette, also a Lowell native. They were married in Colorado Springs, CO in August of 1956.

Born on December 19, 1932, Normand graduated from Lowell’s St. Louis de France Grammar School, Keith Academy and Lowell Tech (now UMass Lowell.) He spent two years of active duty with the U.S. Army, serving mostly in Germany’s Nuremberg area as a Reconnaissance Scout. Four years later he received his Honorable Discharge from the Army Reserves with the rank of Sargent. At that time, he was employed by the W.J. Dickey & Sons Woolen Mill, near Baltimore, MD, as a fabric designer. It was also here that he became a member of the Knights of Columbus, becoming the Grand Knight of Madonna Council in 1971.

Returning to Lowell, he joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1976 as a Human Resources Specialist Personnel, in offices in Lowell, Woburn and North Reading Sectional Centers until his retirement in December 2002. An active member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, Branch 498, he served as its Treasurer for twenty years. He and his wife were communicants of St. Louis de Gonzague Parish since moving to Nashua in 1994. He enjoyed following the Red Sox and Patriots on all their televised games.

An avid photographer since the age of twelve, he had an uncanny aptitude for composition. He also had a keen interest and love of automobiles, looking forward to developing design changes every fall, and in old cars, having attended many of the Annual Hershey Antique Car gatherings. An ardent fan of good music, he especially liked instrumentals, classical and semi-classical orchestral arrangements. His ever-present smile and positive attitude, bolstered by his compassion and generosity will remain with relatives, friends, co-workers and ever casual acquaintances.

Normand is survived by his daughter, Michele von Philp and her husband, Ralph and their children, Trenton and Bethany of Hagerstown, MD, both of whom he and Fleurette were very proud, as attested by their frequent trips to Maryland for anniversaries and holidays.

In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his siblings, Pauline Coffey, Lorraine Janowicz, Roger Ouellette, Rudolphe “Red” Ouellette, Rev. Lionel P. Ouellette and Reginald A. Ouellette.

Relatives and friends are invited to Normand’s Life Celebration on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 12 until 3 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Parish, Nashua, NH. Burial in St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery, Nashua, NH.
