Stoneham - Normand J. Beland, Sr., a Stoneham resident, and the beloved husband of Patricia M. (DiSessa) Beland, died unexpectedly Wednesday December 3, 2008, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was 68.
Normand was born in Lowell on May 25, 1940, a son of the late Omer and Alice (Paradis) Beland. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and the University of Lowell. He served in the U.S. Army during the early years of the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a software engineer. In recent years he has worked for Dave L. Limousine as well as volunteering many hours to the USO in Boston.
Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and daughters in law, Mark and Pauline Beland of Derry, NH, Normand, Jr. and Andrea Beland of Burlington; five grandchildren, Bryanna, Jason, Jessica, Rebecca, Michael; a brother and sister in law, Omer and Evon Beland of Magnolia, Gloucester, MA; a sister and brother in law, Anne Marie and Richard Trudel of Hudson, NH; two sisters in law, Diana Beland of Lowell, Constance Moretti of Stoneham; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Raymond J. Beland.
