Norman Ruest

Norman Ruest, 77, a resident of Dracut, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the E. N. Roger's Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Bedford, MA. He was the beloved husband of Jeannette R. (Belanger) Ruest with whom he was married for 52 years.
Born in Dracut on January 2, 1931, he was a son of the late Florian and Yvonne (Decelle) Ruest.
Mr. Ruest served with the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded several commendations including the Purple Heart which he received for wounds inflicted during conflict in 1953. He was a member of the Dracut American Legion, Post 315 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid boating enthusiast, enjoying summers at Lake Winnipesaukee. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and was a member of the 495th R/C Squadron in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was a communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut and also was a member of the Dracut Senior Citizens Club.
Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was employed by the General Electric Company in Westwood.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael N. and Ann J. Ruest of Groton; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Arthur Gagne of Dracut; three grandchildren, Hannah Ruest and Michael N. Ruest, Jr. of Groton and Stacey Gagne of Dracut; also several nieces and nephews among whom is Ronald Ruest and his wife Patricia of Marlboro. He was a brother of the late Edgar and Roland Ruest.
