Norman P. Phaneuf, Sr. ,89, a longtime resident of Dracut, died Monday March 5, 2012. He was the husband of the late Belle B. (Joyner) Phaneuf.
Born in Lowell on May 15, 1922, he was a son of the late Elphege and Amela (Giroux) Phaneuf.
As a young man, Norman served in the United States Navy during World War II. He made his living as a printer and was the owner and operator of Phaneuf Press until his retirement in 1987. Norman was a very talented and accomplished craftsman specializing in wood working. He had a passion for rebuilding, refinishing and restoring furniture. He was also a member of the St. Theresa's Men's Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn D. McLean and her husband, Patrick of Dracut; a son, Norman P. Phaneuf, Jr. and his wife, Susannah of Pelham, NH; four grandchildren, Mark B. Phaneuf and Kady Wodarski of Pelham, NH, Elizabeth S. Thompson and her husband, Erik of Medway, MA, Rebecca K. Connor and her husband, William of Chelmsford, Michael P. McLean of Willow Springs, NC; five great grandchildren, Emma, Maura, Kyla, Liam & Mac; dear friends, Dave Courtenay and Gary Harrington, Sr.; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert, Raymond and Richard Phaneuf.
