Noreen C. (Gacek) Flanders, 68, a resident of Dracut and beloved wife of Harry A. Flanders passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Lowell General Hospital following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and her constant companion, her beloved dog “Blue.”
Born in Lowell on July 8, 1955, she was a daughter of the late John and Loretta (Baron) Gacek.
Noreen grew up in Lowell prior to moving to Dracut. She was employed for many years as a cashier at Hannaford in Dracut and in previous years was a waitress for the Lo Kai Restaurant in Dracut.
Noreen enjoyed gardening, camping and cooking and was especially known for making her signature pierogis. She and Harry spend many years trap shooting together and was the first woman to win the Massachusetts State Handicapped Championship. Noreen also bowled in a local bowling league, the “Coffee Maids,” with her friends and loved her daily scratch tickets. She was an avid New England Patriots fan and the biggest cheerleader for Tom Brady. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends at the many cookouts and pig roasts.
Surviving her besides her husband Harry, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage on September 1st this past year is his son and daughter in law, Harry H. and Jordan E. Flanders of Boscawen, NH; her siblings, Pamela Brown of Dracut, Gail Gacek of Dracut, Janice Fisher of Oregon, Christina Baron of Florida, Joan Boudeau of Florida; her sister-in-law, Donna Brewer and her husband Bruce of Nashua; as well as several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Blue.
The family would like to thank her best friend, Paula Chalifoux of Dracut, for the great comfort and support she provided at this most difficult time.
She was the sister of the late Jack Gacek.
In keeping with Noreen's request her funeral services will be private.
