Nancy M. (Gannon) McKenna

LOWELL - Nancy M. (Gannon) McKenna, 60, a Lowell resident, passed away on Tuesday June 5, 2018 at the Lowell General Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Michael J. McKenna with whom she shared their 35th wedding anniversary on August 28, 2017.

Born in Lowell on August 13, 1957, she was a daughter of the late John Barry Gannon and Barbara (Richards) Gannon.

Nancy was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School.

Prior to her illness, Nancy was employed by UMass Lowell in the graduate admissions department.

She was a communicant of St. Rita's Church and was a member of the parish Women's Club. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society.

In addition to her husband she leaves two children, Sean M. McKenna of Dracut and Michaela M. McKenna of Woburn; a sister, Joan Copley and her husband Daniel of Dracut; a brother, Barry Gannon and his wife Renee (Archambault) of Lowell; two aunts, Isabelle Gannon-Paris of Methuen and Joan Publicover of Lowell; nieces and nephews, Erin McConologue, Kevin Copley, Katie McNulty, Meghan Gannon and Barry Gannon, Jr. ; also several cousins.

She also leaves four dear friends, Erin Costello of Hampton, NH, Carmen Azevedo of Lowell, Doreen Regan of Lowell and Barbara Dougherty of Dracut.

MCKENNA - Per Nancy's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 10 AM in St. Rita Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
