Monica M. (Julien) Gagne, age 94, a longtime resident of Dracut, died Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital following a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Gagne.
She was was born in Lowell on May 4, 1930, and was a daughter of the late Romeo and Bertha (Cote) Julien. She received her education in Lowell schools.
Prior to her retirement, Monica was employed for over 20 years by Lowell Paper Box.
She was a member of the Lowell VFW Walker Rogers Post 662 Ladies Auxiliary and the Dracut Senior Citizens, where she volunteered for over 20 years.
Monica enjoyed playing cards, especially playing 45s with her friends on Tuesdays.
She will be remembered for always putting her family first. In her later years she cared for her adult children until their deaths.
Monica is survived by a son, Victor Gagne and his wife Joanne of Dracut; six grandchildren, including Steven McDonagh and his wife Cynthia of Dracut; thirteen grandchildren, including Champ and Jake McDonagh of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Paul Gagne, Jacqueline McDonagh, Ernest Gagne, Jr. and Wayne Gagne and the sister of the late Roma Costa, Anita Leighton, Denise Green, Adrienne Logan, Normand Julien and Lionel Julien.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Monica’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Monday, September 9th from 10:00am until 12:00pm followed by her Graveside Service at 12:45pm at Lowell Cemetery. Monica asked that you please omit flowers and instead make a donation to the charity of your choice in her memory.
