Ms. Mildred (Harnois) Valvo, 86, a former resident of Dracut for over 42 years, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH.
She was born March 17, 1923 in Lowell, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Alfred Telesphore and Roselda (Lafreniere) Harnois.
She was educated in Lowell Schools, and graduated from Lowell High School in 1940. She worked as a stitcher during World War II and later was employed at Honeywell in Lowell and Lawrence.
She was married to Vincent Valvo for 43 years until his death in June of 2006.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Martin, and her husband, George, of Pelham, NH, two grandchildren, Robert Martin of Dracut and Donna (Martin) Podd and her husband Timothy Podd of Milford, NH, and a great-grandchild, Stephen Podd. She also has three step-children, Vance Valvo and his wife, Pamela, and their children, Carina and Curtis, of Edmond, OK; Virginia Valvo, of Portland, ME; and Vincent Valvo, Jr. of FL. She is also survived by a sister, Roselda Leblanc of TN, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Doris Gauthier, Delia Dube, Jeannette Cote and Alice Gagnon.
