OBITUARY
METHUEN - Michael D. Plunkett, 68, a resident of Methuen, died Sunday, September 25, 2005 at the Lawrence General Hospital. He was the husband of Joan E. (Cullen) Plunkett.
Born in Lowell on April 9, 1937, he was a son of the late John T. Plunkett and Dorothea I. (Loranger) Plunkett of Lowell who survives him.
Mr. Plunkett attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1954. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He began his career with the United States Postal Service in 1964 as a letter carrier in the Lowell Office. He later became the Director of Customer Service in Lowell. Following his service in Lowell, he became the District Manager of the Boston Post Office, Post Master of The Binghamton, NY Post Office, and Post Master of the Portland, ME Post Office, from which he retired.
A longtime resident of Lowell, he had been a member of St. Michael Parish.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael K. Plunkett of Fairfax, VA and David J. Plunkett of Somerville; a daughter and her husband, Kimberley A. and Scott MacEachern of Tewksbury; two sisters and their husbands, Dorothea A. and Philip Labranch of Pelham, NH and Patricia J. and Mark Guziejka of Andover; four brothers and their wives, John T. "Jack" and Eileen Plunkett of Lowell, Richard A. and Susan Plunkett of Windham, NH, Robert E. and Catherine Plunkett of No. Hampton, NH and James V. and Heather Plunkett of Pepperell; four grandchildren, Caitlin and Cameron Plunkett of Fairfax, VA and Owen and Devyn MacEachern of Tewksbury; his mother-in-law, Catherine R. (O'Loughlin) Cullen of Dracut; also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the father-in-law of the late Michelle (Duchesne) Plunkett
