Michael E. Laferriere

DRACUT - Michael E. Laferriere, 49, a Dracut resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Saints Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Lynne A. (Philbrook) Laferriere with whom he was married for over 19 years.
He was born in Lowell on April 27, 1961, a son of the late Eugene A. Laferriere, Jr. and Nancy M. (Farley) Laferriere of Lowell who survives him. A graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1979, Mike was a 26 year veteran of the Lowell Fire Department, most recently stationed at the Lowell Civic Center serving with Rescue 1 Company. Mike was very proud to be a fourth generation firefighter for the City of Lowell, and never hesitated to share this fact with people. He will be sadly missed by his brother firefighters. Stay Gold.
Mike enjoyed many sports including playing hockey through his youth. Continuing into adulthood he played and coached baseball on a Men's Sunday morning league. Mike also enjoyed: coaching his daughters in their activities; Sunday dinners at his home; entertaining at the lake; but enjoyed spending time with his family most of all. Mike had a heart of gold and would never hesitate to help someone in need.
Besides his wife Lynne and his mother, he is survived by his two daughters Sarah and Nancy both of Dracut, who were his entire world. He is also survived by his brother Gene Laferriere of Lowell, who was as close to Mike as two brothers could ever be. They stuck together through thick and thin. He is also survived by his sister, Karen A. Laferriere of Lowell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Mary Philbrook of Tyngsboro; two brothers-in-law, David Philbrook and his girlfriend Jodie MacDonald of Dracut and Ben Philbrook and his wife Michelle of Litchfield, NH and Nancy and Karen Laferriere both of Lowell; also several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
