Brother Michael F. Holly, OMI, 73, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was born on May 22, 1936, in Hazelton, PA, the son of George and Susan (Havrilla) Holly.

Bro. Mike professed his first vows as a Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate on August 1, 1977 in Godfrey, IL. His final and perpetual vows as a Missionary Oblate Brother were professed on September 8, 1984.

Bro. Holly's first assignment was to Sacred Heart Parish in Lowell, MA. He then served at the Missionary Oblate Provincial House that was located in Boston, MA. Future assignments were to the Oblate communities in Washington, DC, Tewksbury, MA, Arleta, CA and Oakland, CA. His final assignment was to St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Riviera Beach, FL.

Previous to his entering the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate Michael Holly served in the Army during peace time and was stationed in Germany.

He is survived by brothers Vincent Holly of Mechanicsburg, Pa. and George Holly of Columbus, Ohio and sisters, Mary (Holly) Yurasek of Camp Hill, Pa., Sister Mary Martin Holly (Sisters of St. Francis) of Syracuse, NY, Theresa (Holly) Gabriel of Broomall, Pa. Joan Holly of Philadelphia, Pa., Suzanne (Holly) Willey of Lansdale, Pa. and Kathleen (Holly) Weiss of West Chester, Pa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bro. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, George and Susan Holly plus four brothers, Cyril Holly, Joseph Holly, John Holly and Raymond Holly.
