Lowell - Maurice A. Sawyer, the beloved husband of Therese S. (Berard) Sawyer, and a Lowell resident died Wednesday July 1, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was 73.
Born in Lowell on October 23, 1935, he was a son of the late Albert and Yvonne (Paquin) Sawyer.
Moe was a veteran of the Korean conflict having served in the Air Force. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the US Postal Service for 32 years as a letter carrier. He was also employed for numerous years at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home.
Moe was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church. He also was a member of the Centralville Senior Citizen Club and the Franco American Veterans.
Moe enjoyed travelling and visiting Foxwoods Resort, but he cherished the time spent with his family.
Surviving him besides his wife of 51 years are two daughters and a son in law, Lucille and Peter Richards, Kathleen Sawyer all of Lowell; a brother Richard Sawyer of NH; three sisters, Laurette Beaudoin of Nashua, NH, Florence Chartrand of Lowell, Pauline Peloquin of Hudson, NH; two grandchildren Elizabeth Richards, Paul Sawyer Richards; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Gilberte Frechette
