Dracut – Maurice "Moe" J. Provencher age 90, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at this home on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Doris Yvonne (St. George) Provencher who was the love of his life with whom he shared 58 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2013.
Born in Lowell on September 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Alexander and Olive (Robarge) Provencher. He was raised in Lowell and a graduate from Saint Louis School. Maurice was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1961.
Maurice was a communicant of St. Francis Parish in Dracut. He enjoyed travelling with his wife going on cruises to the Caribbean. Most of all, Maurice cherished his time spent with his children helping them with various home projects.
Prior to his retirement from the Dracut School Department, he was employed at the former Synthetic Yarns and the Lawrence Manufacturing Company in Lowell for 30 years.
He is survived by his four children; two daughters, Susan M. Provencher, Paula Paulette Provencher both of Dracut; two sons, Robert M. Provencher and his wife Susan of Pepperell, and Paul R. Provencher and his wife Tina of Tyngsboro.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren; P. Jake Sheehan, Dracut/Pelham, NH; Sarah Dusenberry, Nashua, NH; Samantha Whitehead, Gardner; Nicholas Provencher and Zachary Provencher, Tyngsboro; Amanda Provencher, Dracut; Ashley Provencher, Lowell; a step grandchild Elisha Allen, Lowell; a great-grandchild Avah Galan, Dracut, and a sister Carol Millette of Hudson, NH and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Maurice was also the brother of the late Ralph, Norman, and Robert Provencher, Theresa Dionne, Rita Malenfant, Doris (Honey) Dufour, MaryJane Boucher and Lea Caires.
He will be deeply missed by his children.
Relatives and friends are invited to Maurice's Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street, from 8 until 10 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM in St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Rd, Dracut. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
